Dr Chris Bonett was elected in Parliament in March 2022 from the fourth district and was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds. He is currently serving the role of Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public works.

In 2007, he graduated with a Doctor of Laws Degree from the University of Malta and in 2014 he graduated with a Master of Law degree in Sports Law from De Montfort University in Leicester.

Minister Chris Bonett served as Vice President and Head of Legal and Football Governance Department of the Malta Football Association (MFA). He also served as UEFA Integrity Officer and as a member of the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body.

Dr Bonett served as Mayor of Gzira between 2007 and 2012 where he led various significant projects within this locality such as the opening of a Community Centre, the Gzira Public Library, the artificial turf training pitch for Gzira United Football Club, the embellishment of the Council of Europe Gardens, and other infrastructural projects.

He is married to Dr Maxilene Bonett, and they have two children, Matteo and Luca.
