Omar Farrugia, born in 1995, currently serves as the youngest Member of Parliament, holding the position of Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works within the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works.

His journey in the public service began in 2019 when he was elected Mayor of Mqabba at the age of 24. As Mayor, with aid from the government he spearheaded various revitalisation initiatives totalling over 5 million euros, notably the transformation of Mqabba’s main square.

Building upon his successful tenure as Mayor, Omar moved on to national politics, securing a seat in Parliament in 2022, elected from the 5th district.

In 2023, he assumed the role of Chairman of Sport Malta, showcasing his commitment to promoting physical activity and sports within the community.
